“It’s pretty fraught for me to come here and play for communities that I imagine want my community to die”

DISCOSTAN is a story of resistance, and how music can provide a home to those who feel lost. It follows a member of the Indian Muslim diaspora living in the west, who is trying to create a breathing community within her music where all are welcome. She calls this borderless, sonic community “Discostan". As tensions between Hindus and Muslims flare, she struggles to maintain it, split between Los Angeles and Mumbai.
