BE HERE, BE QUEER

documentary

The UK’s smoky pubs and sticky carpets were the home of drag, long before Ru Paul dazzled the world. This film aimed to unearth the stories bubbling underneath the glitz and glamour of modern drag.

Some of Ru Paul’s most iconic queens, including The Vivienne, Cheddar Gorgeous, Cheryl Hole, and Tayce took us on a tour of the UK, to towns like Hull and Bournemouth, where bars aren’t just a place to get a drink - they’re safe spaces for the queer community to gather. Along the way we learn about the obstacles modern Queens face, as well as the pressure to conform to a standard: now that audiences know drag, they think they know how its meant to be done too. We meet the Queens seeking to change that.
